Episode #17-Are We Teaching Our Children to be Complainers?
Hello Parents!
Welcome to Parent Wise with Monica Irvine. Today, we will discuss the difference between complaining for fun and official complaints. As parents, we must be so careful that we are not teaching a pattern of negativity and cynicism in our children. We all have had experiences where we avoid those who complain. We might not admit it, but we have. Of course the question is, “Is it us? Are we the person that others try to avoid because they just can’t bear to hear us complain today? Are we the person that when others see us calling or walking down the hallway, they don’t answer the phone or turn and go in the other direction?”
Parents, let’s make sure that we are being a great example of ladies and gentlemen who lift others. Let’s make sure that we are a source of light and assurance. Let’s make sure that our children hear us often talk about all the many things that we are grateful for. If we want to raise grateful children, they must see what “being grateful” looks like and sounds like inside the walls of their homes. Listen today!!
Thank you for the sensitivity you used in addressing this very important topic. You did a beautiful job and it’s something I’m going to share with my children, who are parenting young children. They all do a great job. This will add to their arsenal of go to resources.
Thanks so much Kim and thank you for listening to the podcast! I really appreciate the comment. Monica
Thank you for this clip! I’m especially thankful you reminded me to look at myself in terms of complaining because of course a whole list of people popped up in my head, but I wasn’t one of them ha!!
