Parents, please take the time to listen to today’s podcast.  Monica knows you want good, healthy relationships with your teenagers.  And you know what, that’s what your teens want too.  They really do.

In today’s podcast, Monica will talk about several principles that help you develop a relationship with your teens that create an environment where they really enjoy spending time with you.  She will help you to understand better what it means to be your teen’s biggest cheerleader and why they need this kind of support the most.

Monica will discuss the principle of counseling and what the difference is in counseling versus correction.  She will share why one  of the worst things we can ever do, is parent in a way that embarrasses our teen.

You will love the idea of helping your teen plan safe, well organized activities and what that looks like.  Monica will even help you think through what you can do to make accommodations that promote your teen to spend more time physically in your home.

Finally, Monica will share with you how she used the parents of her children’s friends to help her parent when her ability to influence was reduced.  As always, Monica will share a tender moment between her and her family as they navigated the road of parenting teens.

    Dear Monica,
This was a great message about parenting teens. I’ve got two teen boys, so I think this came along at the perfect time. The best things I took from the talk were about counseling instead of criticizing, and about never correcting my child in public. I’m also inspired to encourage my boys to invite their friends for an event. Great advice. My very favorite thing about your talk is the way that you talked about God’s ability to restore and do all things. You acknowledged that we don’t even know the great things that God is capable of. Beautiful. No one can leave feeling in despair about their parenting, because you gave them hope about what God can do. Awesome! Thanks!

Rebekah! Thank you for your detailed feedback and for taking the time to post it. I appreciate it so very much. I love that we can talk about the goodness of God and feel hope because of his goodness! Always grateful!

As always, Monica, you’re so wise and I LOVE listening to your counsel! I see that you have some notes underneath about what you talked about, but I was thinking how nice it would be to be able to look over a bulleted (or numbered) list of the main advice points you shared, to review the great wisdom in a glance. You made several points, and it’s hard to keep all the points in my mind without forgetting the ones you told us first. 🙂 I usually exercise or fix dinner while I’m listening, so taking notes is hard. Thanks so much for sharing!
